Why did Foster Family Connection change it's name?

Foster Family Connection recently changed its name to Connections For Kids in May, 2004 to broaden our business possibilities. Children will continue to be our focus but we wanted to be more inclusive of all children.

Connection For Kids was created by a foster parent to help stop the multiple placements of children in state custody. A gradual transition process helps ease a child into a foster family or back into the fabric of their biological families.

Who are the children?

CFK provides a "home like" atmosphere for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18. The children come from a variety of situations. This may include coming either directly from their biological family or from disrupted foster/adoptive placements.

What happens after a placement is made?

CFK continues to be involved in the life of many of their children by offering continued support to both the biological and foster families. We assist the families by identifying community resources and encouraging behavior modifications.

Are there any children who don't qualify?

Yes. We accept all children within the custody of the State of Maine Department of Health & Human Services.
